Not far from St Albans and Harpenden at the Stockwood Discovery Centre Luton, you can get your fix of wildlife photography for the year. The British Wildlife Photography Awards (BWPA) exhibition is up until Sunday 17th March and is open every day from 10 am to 4 pm and it's free. The Discovery Centre is part of Luton Culture and arts and cultural charity who encourage individuals and groups to enjoy and learn about arts and culture, engage with heritage and use their talents and interests to make a difference.

The British Wildlife Photography Awards (BWPA) presents this highly acclaimed and exceptional wildlife photography exhibition each year. It always captivates visitors from all over the county with its outstanding and beautiful imagery. The British Wildlife Photography Awards (BWPA) were established to recognise the incredible talents of photographers practising in Britain, whilst at the same time highlighting the great wealth and diversity of Britain’s natural history.

"Each year the British Wildlife Photography Awards generates an incredible catalogue of splendid, exciting, imaginative and artistic images, proving beyond doubt that we have the richest palette of life to celebrate in our own backyard. Anyone passionate about protecting and preserving wildlife will be inspired by the British Wildlife Photography Awards, which has done more than any other award to raise the profile of British wildlife" says Chris Packham, TV Presenter and Naturalist.

To mark their tenth anniversary and help raise awareness about our coast; its incredible biodiversity and the threats it is facing the BWPA have expanded their Coast and Marine category to include British and Irish Coastlines within four separate categories; Wales, Scotland, England, and Northern Ireland & the Coast of Ireland. The 2019 Awards are now open for entry.

If you or any of your family in Harpenden or St Albans are budding wildlife photographers this is a must. The beautiful Hertfordshire countryside then offers a perfect opportunity for you to get out there and test your skill.
