Beat winter blues with clever colour

The approaching winter months can often be associated with cold, dark days and a gloomy atmosphere that for some can have a really negative impact on mood. One way to stave off such feelings could be to focus on brightening up your St Albans and Harpenden interior. So rather than focusing on what is going on outside you can turn your attention inside.
“Decorating your home using certain colours, styles and furniture can really make a difference in terms of your mood.” Says Nadia McCowan Hill, Wayfairs style advisor.“Adding a hot hue within a neutral setting is one of the easiest ways to inject warmth and energy into a space, so it's an excellent place to start if you're looking to combat the blues in the winter months.”
Nadia’s simplest advice is to simply choose a couple of uplifting colours to sprinkle throughout your home space, “hot pink, zesty lime or something even brighter. It's best not to use more than three tones in one room though or the look can lose its impact,” she says.
Another way to lift mood inside is to include mirrors, lamps and metallic pieces.” Items that bounce light are instant mood lifters. Lamps and mirrors will work double duty, bringing a gleaming glimmer and a flash of colour at the same time,' Nadia says.
Soft furnishings are of course the fastest fix, they are affordable and they look great, but are comfortable too, rugs, throws and bedding are great for making your St Albans’ home feel cosy and warm during the winter months.
