We all know singing is good for us and the Harpenden Music Makers make listening to music good for us. On Saturday 11th May 2019 at St. John's Church, Saint Johns Road, Harpenden AL5 1DJ, UK they will be performing their Song of Songs.
They say it will be an evening of “wonderfully uplifting choral music, inspired by the Old Testament Book – Song of Solomon and based on the theme of Love.” After the performance, you are invited to meet the choir over refreshments. This could be a great way of getting to find out if you want to be involved with Harpenden Music Makers.
Harpenden Music Makers are a well-established group they were formed way back in 1964. They are a Harpenden based amateur group of 43 adult members who enjoy making music. That passion has developed into a popular local choir with a great local following at their concerts.
They have a broad range of musical tastes and cover many genres and styles in their singing repertoires. They learn and perform music from the old to the new, songs to oratorios, sacred to secular. They also perform in lots of different ways; sometimes alone as at in Song of Songs at St. John's Church, Harpenden, sometimes with other choirs, sometimes unaccompanied or with professional soloists, orchestras and even actors on occasion.
Audiences have commented often on how they like the variety of their programmes which makes them stand out from other Harpenden and St Albans choirs. Several new members have made the move from audience to choir member over the years. If you are interested in singing with the choir, would like concert tickets or have any other enquiries you can contact the secretary, Maria Newling.
Harpenden Music Makers meet regularly on Wednesday evenings from 7.45pm until 9.30 pm at Harpenden High Street Methodist Church. There is always so much to get involved in around St Albans and Harpenden.
