Harpenden Carnival presented to you by Harpenden Round Table and Harpenden Town Council is on the 8th June this year on Harpenden Common. They say they have “pre-ordered fine weather so put June 8th in your diary and bring your friends and family to a great day out.”
The theme of this year’s Harpenden Carnival is “Get Active” and they have selected some great acts for the arena and are reaching out to all local sports / activity groups to get involved. Of course there will still be Harpenden Carnival favourites including the Dog Show, craft stalls, bouncy inflatables, children’s activities and plenty of food and drink.
Last year Harpenden Carnival donated £24,000 to their chosen charities. In 2019 the Carnival Committee have chosen to support the Playpark Action Rothamsted Committee (PARC) to build a new play area at Rothamsted Park in Harpenden.
Rothamsted Park covers an area of 56 acres and is located close to Harpenden town centre. It is adjacent to the world famous Rothamsted Experimental Research Centre. Harpenden West Ward Cllr Matt Stephens formed the group PARC (Playpark Action Rothamsted Committee) last year, aiming to create a new play area for the town.
“The present play equipment is worn, dilapidated and nearing end of life.” Said committee member Rod Cooley. “Our charity members are all volunteers and the purpose of our charity is to replace the old dilapidated play area in Rothamsted Park, Harpenden, with an exciting new one.” This is part of a larger project to regenerate leisure and culture facilities in Rothamsted Park.
Another committee member Gillian Griffiths said: “We are passionate about building a flagship play park where our children and grandchildren want to go - with equipment that is exciting, challenging and caters for all.” You can play your part by supporting Harpenden Carnival 2019.
