As we settle back into the school routine and gather ourselves for the approaching shorter evenings there is nothing like a good book. Despite the onset of digital books many like Stephen Fry think -“Books are no more threatened than stairs by elevators.”
That is certainly the view of Harpenden Books, 48 High Street, Harpenden, AL5 2SX who regularly run book events for adults and children. The next one being of Saturday 23rd September "Daddy and I": Story reading and crafts which his on from 2.30 - 3.30pm.
You can come to the event to hear the picture book author Lou Treleaven (Children's picture book, junior fiction and early reader author published by Maverick Arts Publishing. Based in South Bedfordshire) read from her new book Daddy and I, plus hear the adventures of The Snugglewump, the comforter that ran away from home! In addition to story reading, there are crafts and you can get your book signed.
For the Adults you can browse the book shop and in case you missed it one of Harpenden Book favourite titles this month is Ali Smith's novel Autumn. Described by The Times as 'undoubtedly Smith at her best', this is an elegant and poignant meditation on a country divided. With a title to match the season it’s one to take a look at and see if it’s for you if not there are plenty more titles to choose from.
