Postal countdown to Christmas 2016

There is nothing like the middle of November to bring you up with a jolt that Christmas is only a few weeks away.  If you live in St Albans or Harpenden there is no shortage of opportunity to get hold of a wide range of brilliant presents for friends and family.  While many families can get together for the big winter feast more and more of us have friends and relations all over the world and making sure presents arrive in time is really important.

Whether you are one of the millions of people who do your Christmas shopping far in advance of the big day, or you are one of those people who don’t want to think about Christmas until it is December and leave it till the very last minute to do your shopping, being savvy with the dates you need to post your pressies so that they arrive in time is still vital. Knowing The Royal Mail's posting dates will help and for sending gifts from the UK to many EU countries you might need to have them bought packed and at the post office sooner than you think. For Cyprus and Eastern Europe Wednesday, Dec 7th is the last day to post and for Greece its Sat, Dec 10th.  For The Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Poland  it needs to be sent by Wed, Dec 14th and for Finland and Sweden its Thurs, Dec 15th then the 16th for Austria, Denmark, Iceland, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland and Sat 17th for Belgium, France, Ireland and Luxembourg.

You have a tiny bit more time for the latest recommended positing dates within the UK with Tues, Dec 20th - 2nd Class Mail, Wed Dec 21st - 1st Class Mail, Thurs, Dec 22nd - Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed and Friday, Dec 23rd - Special Delivery Saturday Guaranteed but that would be stressful. For a peaceful present sending in St Albans and Harpenden check out all the postal times online.
