Polar Bear Plunge

Another new year resolution may be to get more involved with a charity in or around St Albans and one local charity is easy to engage with.  On new year’s day Rennie Grove are running a fun family event called the Polar Bear Plunge guaranteed to blow away those cobwebs and start the New Year with a real splash.

In the name of charity and to earn your polar bear medal on that first day of the year when let’s face it there is hardly anything else to do why not celebrate the New Year by taking a dip in some icy water? If you sign up for the Polar Bear Plunge and take an icy dip in the St Albans Diving Club's pool (SASAC) Swimming Pool, Cottonmill Lane, St Albans - all of the money received is split equally between Rennie Grove Hospice Care, Home Start St Albans and Earthworks St Albans.

There will of course be a lifeguard on site and plenty of hot chocolate and cake. There tends to also be plenty of spectators to cheer the plucky plungers on, this promises to be a fun-packed family event.  All polar bear plungers will receive a medal and a hot chocolate with (or without) marshmallows. There are also prizes for youngest plunger, and best fancy dress to plunge.

It costs  £12.50 per adult plunger, £5 per child plunger, £7 per adult spectator, child spectators get in free. There is a £30 family ticket for plungers. ALL of the entrance fees will go directly to the nominated charities.
