Go Wild in Harpenden for this year’s Summer Carnival

Once again Harpenden Round Table and Harpenden Town Council are pleased to be working together to deliver the 52nd Harpenden Summer Carnival on Saturday 10th June 2017. As usual the Carnival will focus on Harpenden Common  where a wide range of entertainment for all will be on offer;  from craft stalls, Mr Alexander’s Travelling Show, Pete the dinosaur, Stunt bike activity, Ferret racing, Face painting, Nature walks, Archery, a fun fair, bouncy inflatables, lot of BBQ, children’s activities and other food and drink stalls.

At the main arena there will be; The “Lamb National” race meet, Falconry displays, African dance workshops. On the music stage, local bands including School bands and Harpenden Light Operatic Society. The event will be free to enter and Art on the Common will be running alongside it.

The gathering on the Common will be the end point of the Carnival procession that starts from Lydekker Park at 12 noon moving along the High Street to the common. Nzinga Dance will lead the way with African drums, followed by the colourful sight of local Guides, Scouts, Police Cadets, various vehicles, and lots of other local organizations in costume! The event on the Common will open at 12.30.

The theme this year is “Harpenden Goes Wild”, this is reflected in much of the event content and in the choice of the Woodland Trust as one of the supported charities. This traditional Harpenden event focuses on children and charity.

Frosts are looking forward to seeing you at the event where we will be holding a stall with a colouring competition, balloons and some guide dogs for the blind – please come and find us.
