Living in St Albans offers such a wide range of great opportunities for families and having a Forest School nearby is one of them. The Forest School stay and play is part of Down The Woods and is held in Heartwood Forest, Sandridge, St Albans, AL4 9DQ. It is now up and running for the year and the next session is on Monday 11th February 2019 from 10 am -12 pm
You can join the forest school team near St Albans in the beautiful natural resource that is Heartwood Forest. There they offer lots of games, fun activities and natural crafts in the great outdoors. Parents are expected to attend with their children and the price is £5 per ticket but siblings under 18 months can enjoy the woods for free.
Down the Woods as an organisation believe that everyone should have the opportunity and be able to connect in some way with the natural environment. They have recently announced that they have changed from a limited Company to a Community Interest Company. Transitioning into a Community Interest Company who are not for profit is a natural step towards them being able to reach even more people with their mission.
If you think all children could benefit from being in the Woods you could support them on their mission to get as many children as possible out of the classroom and under the trees. If your child goes to a school that doesn't have a forest school yet you could contact them and tell them about "Down the Woods" and other outdoors schemes.
Down the woods can come to schools and help them use their wood or one nearby. Forest School sessions are generally 2 hours long and they run projects for a minimum of 6 weeks. There is also the opportunity to organise a Forest School Birthday party and they offer training for play schemes, teamwork, bushcraft all close to St Alban's.
