There are so many great activities in and around St Albans and Harpenden it’s hard to choose what to do. But over Easter you might have time to go a bit further afield. Over at the Royal Gunpowder Mills, Beaulieu Drive, Waltham Abbey, EN9 1JY their Easter events with a difference run until Mon 22nd April 2019 from 10am until the last entry at 3pm.
It's about to get EGG-Splosive and they say they have “got bundles of fun in store!” On Bank Holiday Sunday 21st and Monday 22nd, they have an Eggsplosive Show put on by Special Effects experts Force FX takes place at 3 pm both days.
As you would expect of the Royal Gunpowder Mill there will be explosions and pyrotechnics. These are all in the company of mad Professor Nitrate! But throughout the day there are lots of other things to do. In the Mad Lab, you can visit the eggstra special Science Stations where you can try out some hands-on experiments and also take home your very own Gooey Fried Slime Egg!
Professor Nitrate also puts on egg-cellent interactive science show at 11.40, 1.40 and 3.40 in the Mad Lab for all the family to enjoy. There is lots of science to learn about but they like to encourage everyone to get creative, from making your own bunny ears to even printing your own t-shirt as well as the chance to make and launch a rocket! Outside there will be Rail Rocket trails where you can race against your friends to see whose Rail Rocket goes furthest.
The explosive history of the location also comes to life in their indoor exhibitions, a tractor-trailer guided tour and a visit to the Rocket Vault and Armoury. All set in 170 acres of beautiful woodland and parkland making it a fine family day out from St Albans and Harpenden this Easter.
