Art on the Common Harpenden is one of Hertfordshire’s premier outdoor art events. On Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th June 2019 on Harpenden Common, AL5 2HU, the two-day event will showcase the very best of local St Albans and Harpenden art including; paintings, ceramics, fine art, photography, sculpture, textiles, jewellery, glass, wood and handmade greeting cards.
The 2018 event was a great success, with over 45 artists displaying and selling a wide range of works. This year Art on the Common will take place on the weekend of the 8th and 9th June, opening 10 am - 5 pm on Saturday and 11 am – 5 pm on Sunday. On Saturday it will coincide with Harpenden's wonderful Summer Carnival.
Established over 30 years ago Art on the Common in Harpenden takes place in a wonderful location, set on a tree-lined section of the Common close to the town centre. It is the low cost of exhibiting that makes this an ideal event for truly local artists wanting to test the market in a relaxed, friendly environment. To be part of this event as an artist all you need to do is book your pitch, provide your own gazebo, then bring and sell your art. Payment is non-refundable once you have been allocated a pitch. The only condition is that all proceeds from pitch charges and sales commission are donated to Cancer Research UK. The charity funds scientists, doctors and nurses to help beat cancer sooner and provide cancer information to the public. By giving as little as £2 a month to Cancer Research you could fund something as big as a new research centre or as small as glass slides to analyse cancer cells. They receive no Government funding for their research, so their life-saving work is only possible thanks to people like you who make events like Art on the Common in Harpenden happen.
