Training for a half marathon?

If you are in training for a marathon or a half marathon you will have been out there on those wet cold days and will really be appreciating the longer days. The St Albans’ Half Marathon on Sunday 12th June 2016 is a great target, and has been described as “one of the friendliest running events in the UK and the only one to give you an ice lolly at the finish line!  #icelollyrun

The St Albans event really is a day where lots of  the local community come together to inspire one another to be active as the same time as raising money to support local voluntary organisations and charities. Last year over 6,600 athletes helped to raise a massive £25,000 for local charities.  The event saw groups from the whole community coming together to help marshal, hand out water, encourage runners and, of course, give out ice lollies at the finish line!

This year is the 35th year for the St Albans event and the organisers are continuing to make the event bigger and better; they have increased entry limits, will be making a wider range of merchandise available and they have  introduced a new “Corporate Challenge”.

This is what some of those involved in past events have said -“I've completed 25-30 events in recent years, none of which were marshalled as brilliantly as St Albans Half Marathon - not just the numbers, but the great attitude too!” “One of the friendliest events on the calendar - great stuff!”

“A very enjoyable event! A testing but lovely course with nice scenery and great support from locals and marshals. Nice t-shirt, medal and goodies at the finish line - We will be back next year.”

“My favourite race of all time....come back each year for the ice lolly!”

Check out #icelollyrun keep up the training and enjoy St Albans on Sunday 12th June 2016!
