St Albans Town and Country Show is on its way

If you are lucky enough to live in or around St Albans, not only is London on your doorstep but there is also plenty of Hertfordshire countryside to enjoy. To make sure you are up to date with your country knowledge make sure you don’t miss St Albans Town and Country Show this year at Highfield Park, Highfield Lane, St Albans, AL4 0DB, on the 15-16th July 2017.
In the early years these shows used to be held in different parts of the country, but in the 1960s the local agricultural societies started to buy land to create permanent showgrounds. The first purpose built showground was in Harrogate where the Great Yorkshire Show is held.  Many more locations across the UK now have County Shows to celebrate our rich agricultural heritage and have been adapted and developed to match the interest of the local residents.
This year the St Albans Town and Country Show will host a range of displays in their main ring from Horse and Motorbike Stunts to the wonderful World of Birds demonstrations. They will also continue to support small producers adding to their Food and Drink Markets.  The Classic British Bake Off and Celebrity Chef Alan Coxon will also be present with cookery demonstrations. Rural Crafters and local and handmade products will also be well represented.
For the children there will be a Petting Farm, Punch and Judy, Archery, Small Aircraft flying and let’s not forget the Amazing Reptiles. New this year there will be a large Living History area which will suit Highfield Park beautifully. Eight bands will be playing across each day. And for our four legged friends don’t forget the festival of dogs with over 25 classes per day raising money for Charity, so much for them to do and participate in.
