St Albans summer calendar

Sometimes the summer calendar in St Albans is so full of possibilities it’s hard to choose what to do. But the M Festival which is back for its 9th year on Saturday 30th June is one for the whole family!

The M Festival is open to everyone in the community and gates open at 1:45 pm with live music from 2 pm and headliners on stage at 9:30 pm. The festival goes out with a bang at 11:00 pm with a fireworks finale!  This is a real St Albans local community event with lots of local talent, activities, food and drink.

The live music comes from local bands including Soulfish, Six Go Mad, Glitterbomb, Alexis Kings, San Blas, Hope, Phoenix O'Neill, Shambles, Revellers Steelband and D-Day as well as the best of the musical talent from students at Marlborough and other local primary schools.

About 3000 people are expected to attend one of St Albans favourite family music festivals Hosted at The Marlborough Science Academy. Over the years M Festival has raised over £65,000 for the school since it started in 2010. The Festival has built up a reputation of showcasing some great local talent and this year is certainly no exception with the addition of a brand new second stage. There is some on-site free parking but beware it is offered on a first come, first served basis.

Alongside the local live music, there will be a host of other activities’ including dodgems, frog-jump ride, bungee trampolines, zorbing, face painting, bouncy castles, henna tattoos, hair braiding, jousting, balloon modelling, mini-pamper treatments and a kids zone and art and craft workshops.

There are plenty of food and drink options too with a BBQ using fresh meat sourced locally, homemade vegetarian & ethnic foods, fish & chips, smoothies/shakes, ice creams, sweet & savoury pancakes, beer, cider and PIMMS tents and a cake/tuck shop to name but a few.
