So you will have heard about the Harpenden gang show but don’t forget the St Albans Scout and Guide Gang Show 2019. It will be taking place in the Alban Arena, Civic Centre, St Albans, AL1 3LD from Wednesday 13th February 2019 until Saturday 16th February 2019 at 7.30pm.
St Albans Scout and Guide Gang Show 2019 is their 40th show and just over 100 young people from St Albans will take to the stage in an all-singing-all-dancing production. Young people aged 11 to 18 from Scouting and Guiding organisations across St Albans have been rehearsing since September to prepare for the show. Performing uplifting songs from an eclectic range of artists such as Lady GaGa, Rihanna, John Legend to The Police, Dire Straits and Motorhead and from musical theatre shows such as Greatest Showman, Annie and also children's TV themes like Octonauts and The Furchester Hotel.
The St Albans Scout & Guide Gang Show takes place at the City's largest theatre every February and is performed by members of the St Albans District Scout Association, and the St Albans Division Guide Association. Cast members have to be under the age of 25 and at least 11 years old.
In the past, they have had the honour of performing at some other prestigious venues over the history of our show, including the: Royal Albert Hall in 1997, The O2 Arena! The first St Albans Gang Show can be traced back to 1939. It was a held at Culver Hall on February 23/25th and March 1/4th with a cast of 89 boys and it is reported that Ralph Reader, the man who started Gang Shows, came to see the show. St Albans District Scouts & Guides staged their first Gang Show in 1980 and have produced an annual show ever since so if you have never been before it might be time to take a look.
