Ho Ho Ho! This year there are plenty of places to see Santa around St Albans and Harpenden and Harpenden Mums guide to Harpenden has created a great list. There are Santa's Grottos and Father Christmas Experiences of all sorts taking place all across the local area. From train rides to winter wonderlands or special Santa’s helper’s events, you can find whatever suits you and your little ones close to St Alban's and Harpenden this Christmas.
There are of course lots of charity events and the Harpenden Round Table Santa Float and its special passenger is a regular visitor to the town. The float passed through the streets of Harpenden collecting for charity in the lead up to Christmas each year, usually between 7 pm and 8.45pm. This week The Rotary Club of Harpenden Village have also organised a charity Santa Float around Wheathampstead, Blackmore End and Kimpton.
On Saturday 15th December 2018 there is a less familiar but valuable new Santa event. It is an opportunity to help Father Christmas at St Albans Museum. This is not a grotto they say, but an opportunity to meet Father Christmas with a difference. It has been organised by St Albans for Refugees (StAR) and children are invited to come along and donate a gift. In return, children can meet Santa for free, have a photo taken and they will receive a lollipop.
Father Christmas is trying to give presents to everyone this year but he is running out of time to get them all. If you would like to help Santa have enough presents for children and families that do not have enough go along to see Santa at St Albans Museum + Gallery in the Market Place on 15 December 2018.
The kind of gifts they need include socks, hats, scarves, gloves, sleeping bags, walking boots, tracksuit bottoms, jumpers and coats in adult sizes. All of these can be pre-loved but underwear must be new.
