Lambs at Oaklands College (St Albans Campus), Hatfield Road, St Albans, AL4 0JA can be visited on Saturday 16th March 2019 until Sun 17th March 2019 from 10 am - 3 pm. They have traditionally opened their doors for an annual Lambing Weekend in March.
Oaklands St Albans welcomes the local community to come and meet their new-born lambs. As well as seeing the lambs and ewes in our Lambing Barns, you will be able to learn about the different stages of lambing and chat to our Agriculture students, who are on call throughout lambing season supporting our College Farm Manager to deliver the expected 348 new arrivals in the Spring.
It is a great opportunity to find out more about the college and the courses they offer. For those interested College staff will be available to chat about our Land-based courses which include Animal Care, Horticulture and Equine Studies. Oaklands College was originally established in 1920, the St Albans Campus opened its doors to First World War ex-servicemen under the Officers’ Agricultural Training Scheme and to the Women’s Land Army members. Since then, the College has developed a wide range of learning opportunities.
On lambing weekend the Equine and Animal Care departments will also be on hand to introduce you to some of our wider animal family including reptiles, rabbits and horses up at the Equine yard and in our Oaklands Habitat Centre. The family can also enjoy Donkey rides, the on-site Farmers Market, our Family games area and enjoy a wealth of hot a cold refreshments available.
There's even the opportunity to snap a momento in our Lambing Weekend family photo booth Younger guests can complete there 'Farm Trail' by picking up an activity sheet at the entrance - a great way to take in some fun farm facts as your work your way around Oaklands Farm St Albans.
