Just up the road from St Albans and Harpenden

Just up the road from St Albans and Harpenden is Whipsnade Zoo. The summer holidays are a perfect time to plan a summer trip there. The Sprawling, 600-acre Whipsnade site is home to more than 2,500 animals, as well as tours, adventure play areas and classes.

From 21st July to the 2nd September your summer day out from St Albans or Harpenden can include the Superhero Academy, where the superheroes and fight against some of the biggest threats facing wildlife today.

The zoo would like to introduce the kids to Captain Z and the evil Plastico. This summer the Captain is recruiting all superheroes into the Superhero Academy to teach them about animal powers. After collecting their mission packs and masks from Superhero HQ, they head out to learn all about amazing animal superpowers and complete exciting animal activities.

These superpowers include a whole range of important skills from; night vision for the nocturnal owl, using special goggles, to spot potential food in its woodland home, unlocking the power of super speed, racing against the world’s fastest land animal, the cheetah to climb like the incredible gecko, mastering the toughest skill yet – defying gravity to crawl across the bedroom ceiling.

After completing the skills tests in the Superhero Academy training, they get to graduate and put their skills to the test against the evil menace, Plastico. Plastico and his environmental super-villain accomplices are at large in the zoo and threatening the wildlife. The new recruits will have to use all their new super skills to help Captain Z tackle The Maze. The Maze is a tricky series of obstacles and challenges made by his arch nemesis Plastico.

If the Incredibles 2 has inspired the kids they will be even more inspired to be campaigning superheroes at Whipsnade Zoo, just up the road from St Albans and Harpenden.
