Highbrow without the hassle in St Albans

How about a little bit of highbrow in St Albans without the hassle? The fantastic thing about St Albans is that so much culture and activity comes to your doorstep. You could be at the ENO or Royal Opera House in no time at all with the fantastic transport links form St Albans to London but if Dulwich Opera Company brings Mozart's to St Alban's why not enjoy the show at home?

Dulwich Opera Company established in 2014 by Artistic Directors, Loretta Hopkins and David Fletcher, are returning to St Saviour’s Church in St Albans, this July with a staged production of Mozart's classic comedy Così fan tutte.

Described by Opera Today as “compulsive and enjoyable”, this young and vibrant company are bringing their acclaimed production of Mozart's comedy to St Albans on Wednesday 4th Jul 2018 from7:00 pm - 10:00 pm at St Saviour's Church, St Albans, AL1 4DF.

Dulwich Opera Company demonstrated with their first successful visit to St Alban's with Carmen last year that they can create engaging, dynamic productions of operas in their original languages. They showcase emerging professional artists and hope to attract new audiences to opera by touring to places like St Albans.

Premièred in 1790, Mozart's Così fan Tutte remains one of the most loved and performed of all operas around the world, and includes the famous arias “Come scoglio” and “Un’aura amorosa”, as well as the divine trio “Soave Sia Il Vento”.

Così fan Tutte, also known as “The school for lovers”, tells a wry and light-hearted tale of love, fidelity, and human infallibility featuring a cast of young professional singers, this production presents an elegant take on the comedy. The opera is performed in the original Italian with English subtitles.

The creative team is headed by international opera director, Ptolemy Christie, an innovative, up and coming designer, Leah Sams. Sounds like it might be worth looking up for a spot of highbrow in St Albans.
