As more and more find our lives touched by cancer the St Albans Race for Life takes on new meaning. Sunday 22nd July 2018 will once again bring thousands of women together to support Cancer Research UK in St Albans Race for Life. The Race for Life is a 5k and can be run by all ages. You can run, jog or walk; the only thing that matters is that you’re taking part of it.

St Albans is well known for its great community and community central only help to enhance that reputation. Recently during Sustainable St Albans week, there was an opportunity to find out more about where to get green grants for your environmental project – aimed at community groups, PTAs, schools, charities, social enterprises.

Selfless St Albans locals completed more than 300 acts of kindness throughout a week dedicated to thinking of others. Jonathan Godden a local Strategic manager came up with the idea after a holiday in Thailand. There he had experienced British people are often not as generous as they could be.  On his return, he decided to start the Kindies challenge in St Albans.

Oxjam is the largest grassroots music festival in the UK and on the 29th October, Oxjam will be coming to St Albans.  It operates as a multi-venue festival featuring local musicians and all proceeds from the festival are donated to the work of Oxfam.

This year’s St Albans race for life takes place on Sunday 23rd July 2017at Verulamium Park, St Albans AL3 4SW.  The Race for life is the largest women only fundraising event in the UK. Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life is a series of women-only events raising money for research into 200 types of cancer.

The Herts 10k starting in Harpenden, has quite a reputation for being one of the most beautiful multi-terrain courses that takes place in the Hertfordshire countryside.
