Classics On The Common will be celebrating their 25th Anniversary on Wednesday 25th July 2018. Each year the common comes alive for half a day with more than 1000 classics cars, motor cycles and scooters. It’s a rare opportunity to see a Chevy Bel Air alongside a 1927 Trojan, and a rare 1978 Matra Bagheera next to a1959 Berlie.
Last year the annual classic car show raised around £33,000 for charity. The main beneficiaries were Luton, South Beds and Harpenden Samaritans, Prostate Cancer Care, Hopes and homes for Children and Herts Young homeless.

Each year the event is organised by Rotary in Harpenden, the charity arm of Harpenden Village Rotary Club and this year they will celebrating 25 consecutive years of Classics on the Common. For the 5th year in a row Harpenden Town Council will be the main sponsor of the event.
Last year the event was slightly hampered by bad weather but this year the forecast is looking much brighter. Richard Young, the Rotary in Harpenden event manager, said: ’Despite the damp conditions, our owners and exhibitors once again made this a special event, one that is so close to the hearts of Harpenden people. May I thank most sincerely all the volunteers who put so much into making it a success. I would also like to thank Harpenden Town Council and the policefor their help in allowing early entry on to the common. It really made a difference.’
‘Our spectators were immensely generous: we will be distributing the proceeds to Luton, South Beds and Harpenden Samaritans, Prostate Cancer UK, Hope & Homes for Children, Herts Young Homeless and other good causes.’
